Bury Down is a lightly marked ride following established rights of way and permissive paths.
You are encouraged to download to your phone an electronic map (links in Information document).
Please note there is no access to the parking area for lorries over 7.5 tonne! Following the enthusiasm of the 2023 riders, the great new route for the Bury Down Ride, which is centred on the Ridgeway in the Berkshire is being repeated this year. The route has a number of opportunities for longish canters amongst the varied route through lovely countryside. It is mostly off-road, with going that stands up to all weathers and includes open downs and tracks through wooded areas. There is one section that is stoney. Being where it is, there are a few parts with lots of walkers, dogs, cyclists etc. so please be aware! 14 km and 22 km are offered. The route is ridden anticlockwise and the 14 km ride goes around just the top half, continuing straight from the car park near East Hendred Down along The Ridgeway back to the venue.
