Special permission has been given for CDR to park
at the Hinton airfield which gives us lots of hard standing and space on the
day. This is a working airfield with regular
skydivers and small aircraft and gliders. You can choose from the short 10 miles /16 km or the longer ride of 18 miles / 29km. The route uses bridleways and permitted routes with special permission from land owners to avoid road
work and make it safer and more enjoyable.
Most of the ride is over village farmland, open crop fields and is good going in most weathers with some pretty areas of woodland . The wooded areas on private land do haveshooting on occasions.
This ride will pass through fields with sheep. The ride also rides around a working pig farm. There are a few gates and road crossings that will have a steward On route you may pass Deer, Alpacas, Cattle and sheep. As always watch out for badger and rabbit holes although care has been taken to alert riders to known areas of risk.
