There is a short and a long route for the Hillesden ride. The Long is 21.6km ( 13.5miles ) and short 15.2km ( 9.5 miles ). On the long route there is less roadwork and you ride lengthways down a stream with a `plunge` into the millstream at the end. Lots of canters. The short route misses out the water but means 2 miles of quiet roadwork instead. Parts of the route are `special` permission but the majority is bridleway. Not many gates. A brilliant straight mile long canter at the end back to the venue. The venue is on grass on a private farm.
